18th and 19th Century Mills of Huntington – Free

Join Robert Hughes, Town of Huntington Historian, and Toby Kissam, local historian and former President of the Huntington Historical Society, for a talk on the rich history of milling in Huntington.

From flour and cloth to paper and lumber, the town’s mills have played a vital role since European settlement in the 17th century. The presentation will spotlight the Lefferts Tide Mill, built in 1794 in Lloyd Harbor, a rare, well-preserved example of pre-industrial American craftsmanship recognized by the National Park Service in 1975.
**Your Suffolk County’s 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence book will be stamped at the lecture.**
