Hosted by the Huntington Human Services Institute, Inc., the free tournament ran from noon to 4 p.m. and was open to students in grades 5 through 12. In addition to the 3-on-3 games and shooting contest, participants were entered for a chance to take home the basketball hoops used during the tournament.

Six teams competed in the fifth- and eighth-grade divisions.

In the fifth-grade division, the Knicks, Wildcats and Knickerbockers took the court, with Team Knickerbockers earning the win. The championship team included Teddy Silber, James McWilliams and Spencer Panek.

The eighth-grade division featured the Wildcats, RWE and Parker. Team Parker, made up of Kingchase, Alex Holley and Aiden Stephen, finished as the division winner.

The tournament also featured a 3-Point Shooting Contest. Spencer Panek won his age division, while Huntington High School students Ze’von McCoy, a ninth grader, and Robbie Campbell, a senior, tied in the high school division.

Panek had an especially successful afternoon, also winning free Chick-fil-A for a year, courtesy of Chick-fil-A Huntington, a sponsor of the 2026 Summer Carnival.

Several athletes went home with another big win. Camilo Pinckney, Kayden, Kyle Shakes, Yosuar Castro, Teddy Silber, Alex Holley and Michael Vilorio were selected as basketball hoop winners.

The Basketball Tournament was one of several athletic events held during the Summer Carnival weekend, which also included Friday’s Huntington Carnival Showdown between Huntington and Walt Whitman boys soccer and Sunday’s Girl’s Championship Flag Football game.
