DIX HILLS, NY – March 3, 2026
Inspector Markus Rivera, Suffolk County Police Department 2nd Precinct, led the March 2026 community meeting at Half Hollow Hills Public Library in Dix Hills, reviewing February crime statistics, arrests, incidents across the precinct, enforcement activity, scams, and community updates.
The meeting included details on a robbery in Huntington Station, a weapons-related investigation, massage parlor enforcement, State Liquor Authority enforcement, vape compliance checks, traffic enforcement, domestic incidents, overdoses, and ShotSpotter activations.

Crime Statistics
Police reported decreases in multiple index crime categories from January to February, including larceny and vehicle theft, with one robbery, five aggravated assaults, zero residential burglaries, and one commercial burglary reported during the month. Year-to-date trends show decreases in property crimes with slight increases in robbery and assault.

Arrests Breakdown
Police reported approximately 284 total arrests in February, including arrests tied to gang activity, 24 DWI arrests, and 172 drug-related arrests. Police emphasized continued focus on DWI enforcement and traffic safety as a top priority.
Incidents of Note Across the Precinct
Tuthill Street, Huntington Station – Robbery 3rd Degree. Police said the victim, who owed money, was punched and had a gold bracelet forcibly removed. Officers responded, and an arrest was made.
West 19th Street and 12th Avenue, Huntington Station – Prohibited Use of a Weapon. A shell casing was discovered the day after a suspected gunshot was heard. No injuries or damage were reported, and the incident remains under investigation.
217 Walt Whitman Road, Huntington Station – Robbery. A suspect entered a vape shop, went behind the counter, and forcibly removed cash and cell phones. Officers quickly responded, and K9 Officer Bolt tracked and located the suspect in a nearby basement stairwell, leading to an arrest.
Massage / Spa Enforcement – Huntington
New Foot Spa, 198 New York Avenue, Huntington – 1 arrest – Unauthorized Practice of a Profession (E Felony) and Prostitution, 6 combined violations issued, investigation ongoing.
State Liquor Authority (SLA) and Business Enforcement
Sports Bar El Cuscatleco, 137A Broadway, Huntington Station – 3 arrests made including the owner and two patrons for cocaine possession, along with multiple violations issued following an investigation into a prior assault at the location.
VAPE Compliance Operation
A total of 20 shops were inspected during the month, with 2 found in violation.
Danny’s Convenience Store, Huntington Station – Sold a vape product to a minor and charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child (2nd Degree) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon (4th Degree) after metal knuckles were discovered.
Joe Joe’s Convenience, Huntington Station – Sold a vape product to a minor and charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child (2nd Degree).

Traffic Enforcement – S.I.T.E. Team
The Suffolk Intensified Traffic Enforcement Team conducted enforcement at multiple high-complaint locations and issued 95 summonses, including 76 moving violations and 19 non-moving violations.
Police emphasized that traffic safety, including aggressive driving and DWI enforcement, remains a primary focus for the precinct.
Fatal Accident – Precinct Wide
Police reported one fatal accident during February.
ShotSpotter Activations – Huntington Station
Police reported seven ShotSpotter activations during February, all of which resulted in negative findings.
Domestic Incidents and Overdoses
Police reported 192 domestic incidents, including 81 criminal cases and 43 arrests. Four non-fatal overdoses were reported during the month.
Scam and Crime Prevention Reminders
Police warned residents about ongoing scams including gift card scams, check washing, mail theft, and phone spoofing where callers impersonate law enforcement or financial institutions. Residents were advised not to provide personal or financial information, avoid sending money based on unsolicited requests, and never allow remote access to their computers. Residents are encouraged to review the meeting slides for additional scam prevention guidelines.

The Suffolk County Police Department continues to encourage residents to get involved through community service opportunities. Residents can assist law enforcement by staying engaged, reporting suspicious activity, and participating in local safety initiatives that strengthen communication between the police and the community.
