HUNTINGTON STATION, NY – August 13-16, 2026
There’s just something about a summer carnival that brings out the kid in everyone, and this weekend’s 2026 Summer Carnival at Breezy Park certainly did that.
The weekend officially kicked off on Friday, August 14, with a special Opening Ceremony featuring New York Knicks legend and NBA All-Star John Starks. Fans lined up for the chance to meet Starks, who signed shirts, basketballs, and memorabilia for the first 75 people in line and posed for photos with each guest.
Once the final autograph was signed, Town of Huntington elected officials joined the many people who helped bring the weekend together on stage to officially open the carnival.
The celebration had an extra special twist: it was also John Starks’ birthday. He was presented with a detailed sketch created by Miguel Blanco, along with a birthday cake, as the crowd joined together to sing “Happy Birthday.”
From there, the carnival was in full swing.
Families filled Breezy Park as kids raced from ride to ride, tried their luck at the games, and enjoyed all the sights and sounds that make a carnival such a fun summer tradition. There was music playing, plenty of food, lots of laughter, and, of course, that unmistakable excitement every time another ride started spinning.
What stood out most wasn’t any one ride or attraction. It was seeing so many families simply enjoying time together. Parents and grandparents watched as little ones enjoyed the rides, kids walked around proudly carrying their prizes, and friends stopped to talk as they made their way through the carnival.
Events like this are a reminder that sometimes the best community nights are the simplest ones: families, friends, neighbors, some carnival food, and kids having an absolute blast.

The four-day Summer Carnival at Breezy Park was a fundraiser for the Huntington Human Services Institute Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports programs and services benefiting Huntington residents. Empire Automotive Group served as a major sponsor of the event, along with Palacios Law Group and dozens of local businesses that contributed through additional sponsorships and support. Rides and attractions were provided by Newton Shows.
Another fun summer weekend in Huntington, and judging by all those smiling kids, we’d say this one was a hit!
