DIX HILLS, NY – The community came together last Thursday evening October 9th for the 17th Annual Sorrentino Turkey Fundraiser, an event dedicated to helping over 3,000 local families enjoy a warm and plentiful Thanksgiving. The fundraiser, organized each year by Huntington’s Andre Sorrentino and his wife Kimberly, has become a cherished Huntington tradition, bringing neighbors, businesses, and friends together in the spirit of generosity.
Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase turkeys and other holiday essentials for families in need throughout the Town of Huntington. Over nearly two decades, the Sorrentino Turkey Drive has provided over 40,000 turkeys to local households through partnerships with community food pantries and outreach programs.
This year’s fundraiser was supported by generous donations from all over the community, as well as a special boost from Huntington Station Business Improvement District (BID), donating $5,000, 9th Street Auto Collision donating $5,000, and The Ferro Foundation donating $10,000, among others, helping ensure that more families will receive Thanksgiving meals this season.
Sorrentino has routinely told Huntington Matters that his motivation for the Turkey Drive is simple: He just wants to help people.
As the holiday season approaches, the Sorrentino Turkey Drive remains a symbol of what can be achieved when residents and organizations work together to care for one another.
The Sorrentino Family sends out a special thanks to the businesses listed below who donated food for the evening and much praise to the Dix Hills Fire Department for offering up their venue for the event. Please choose to patronize these local businesses for catering or when you eat out and thank them for their donation!
