Suffolk County Police Department Woman found in Pool

Huntington Woman Dies After Being Found Unresponsive in Residential Pool

HUNTINGTON, NY – Issued July 23, 2026

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a woman died after being pulled unresponsive from a residential swimming pool today in Huntington.

Second Precinct officers responded to a home, located at 15 Rodsfield Court, after a 911 caller reported that a family member, Marcia Amarando age 73, was found unresponsive in a pool at 3:00p.m. The family member pulled the woman from the pool and officers performed CPR until Commack Fire Department Ambulance personnel took over.

Amarando, a resident of the home, was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives believe the incident is non-criminal in nature.
