Unhing’d Voices: An Evening with Walt Whitman

The Walt Whitman Birthplace Association is proud to present acclaimed actor Stephen Collins in his riveting one-man show, Unlaunch’d Voices: An Evening with Walt Whitman.

This intimate performance offers a profound glimpse into the life and mind of America’s “Bard of Democracy”.
Conceived by Stephen Collins and directed by Michael Keamy, Unlaunch’d Voices has garnered rave reviews throughout New England and the Northeast since 1998. The performance transports the audience to the evening of Whitman’s 70th birthday, where the poet reminisces about his life, his work, and the mystical experiences that inspired his masterpiece, Leaves of Grass.
Stephen Collins brings an uncanny resemblance and deep understanding to the role, utilizing Whitman’s own poetry, prose, and personal letters to explore the poet’s transformation into a mature artist at peace with “himself, God and death”.
