Old Burying Ground Tour – Huntington Historical Society

Step back in time on a guided tour of Huntington’s earliest public burying ground and discover the stories, history, and sacrifices of the men and women who helped shape our community.

Join the Huntington Historical Society for a guided walking tour of Huntington’s Historic Burying Ground, where you’ll explore one of the Town’s oldest and most significant historic sites.
The tour begins inside The Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Building, an iconic landmark built in 1892 to honor Huntington residents who died during the Civil War. Today, the building is home to Huntington’s History & Decorative Arts Museum.
From there, participants will explore Huntington’s earliest public burying ground, established shortly after the Town’s founding in 1653. Along the way, you’ll view remarkable examples of early American folk art and beautifully carved epitaphs while learning about the lives of Huntington’s earliest residents and the Town’s rich history.
Special guest Jeff Richman will share stories of Huntington Patriots and the sacrifices they made during the British military occupation of the Town throughout the Revolutionary War.
