The Huntington Human Services Institute Inc. and Empire Automotive Group are hosting the Summer Carnival at Breezy Park fundraiser for a second year this weekend from Thursday, August 7th through Sunday, August 10th. This “little” (big) Carnival was a family FAVORITE last year! It’s small enough for the young kids to feel like they OWN the place (remember that feeling?) while packed with super fun rides and ALL the Carnival things!
In an interview last year, Kevin Thorbourne, Town of Huntington Director of Human Services shared “It’s a no brainer.” explaining “We came up with this idea to try to raise money for the community, for our Youth and Senior programs.” He said “It was easy to put together because I have the support of our Supervisor and Town Council.” Last year’s carnival sponsored by Empire Automotive Group was a tremendous success, raising a significant amount of money that supported additional youth, senior, veteran and family programs for Town of Huntington, NY residents without using tax dollars.
Huntington Matters shared a very special sneak peek in 2024 when Adventureland refused to discount their tickets by $1 for the Town’s Project Play campers’ annual field trip, a tradition for over 30 years. Kevin pivoted with a quick call to Newton Shows to ask if they could open the Summer Carnival a few hours early. Watching over 200 local children live the dream of having an entire carnival to themselves was truly magical.
When Kevin contacted Huntington Matters about the 2025 Summer Carnival, June Margolin told him she wanted to try something new in a video to help promote the event. “Sure! Anything you want.” Kevin made himself available for filming over 2 days along with Salesman Fred Marotti from Empire Ford of Huntington. Three bus loads of young campers buzzed with energy while waiting in 2 lines behind the camera. “Okay, guys.” shouted June Margolin, “We’ve only got ONE TAKE for this. Are you ready?” The result was an incredibly fun piece that beautifully captured the spontaneous joy of our neighborhood kids.

“Thanks to the generosity of Empire Automotive Group, Palacios Law Group and over 200 local business sponsors, every dollar spent here STAYS here.” said Kevin Thorbourne.
