National Night Out, an annual event hosted by police precincts across the nation, was celebrated locally with the Suffolk County Police Department Second Precinct and the Town of Huntington at Manor Field, Park on East 5th Street in Huntington Station. Last night’s exciting event celebrated Huntington’s strong sense of community and partnership.
The evening featured basketball and soccer tournaments, music, food, bounce houses, a water slide, an obstacle course, and extended spray park hours (no rec ID card was needed). There were also hot dogs, ice cream, raffles, giveaways, community organizations, and a wealth of resources and information. The Chik Fil A cow mingled through the crowd and Starbucks gave away reusable cups!
Our Huntington Matters team has attended National Night Out – one of our favorite events – since 2015. This year we hosted a Huntington Matters booth that was all about the kids! We had a selfie station, temporary tattoos, cornhole, bubbles, stickers, slap bracelets and candy! We had a community art project gift for our Suffolk County Police Department 2nd Precinct Officers where attendees of all ages drew a picture or wrote a note to thank them for protecting our community.
