Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12–18.
CN Guidance & Counseling Services will present this in-person Youth Mental Health First Aid course at the East Northport Public Library. The program is designed for teachers, school staff, coaches, camp counselors, youth group leaders, parents, and other adults who work with young people.
Participants will learn the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE), including how to assess for risk of suicide or harm, listen nonjudgmentally, give reassurance and information.
