Tactile Poetry with Christina M. Rau – Walt Whitman Birthplace

Feel the power of words in a whole new way during an interactive Tactile Poetry event with poet Christina M. Rau at the Walt Whitman Birthplace. 

Discover ways to create poetry using more than your typical tools. Participants will tear paper, color, glue and weave using blank paper, magazine pages and other materials, exploring how touch, texture and physical presence can shape our connection to language. A typewriter will also be available for limited use.

Led by poet Christina M. Rau, this hands-on evening is open to adults, teens and accompanied children. Whether you are a longtime poetry lover or simply curious to try something new, the program offers a creative way to experience poetry beyond the page.
