Pumpkin Composting Drop-Off Event – Free
Keep your pumpkins out of the trash after Halloween by bringing them to the Town of Huntington Department of Environmental Waste Management’s pumpkin composting drop-off event.
Americans grow nearly 2 billion pounds of pumpkins each year, many for seasonal and decorative use. After Halloween and Thanksgiving, pumpkins are often thrown away.
Because they are organic material, pumpkins can be composted and returned to the soil. When composted, old pumpkins are transformed into a useful product that benefits gardens, farms, and landscaping projects.
Collected pumpkins will be transported by Maggio Environmental to Long Island Compost.
