Thanks to a partnership with the Lefferts Tide Mill & Preserve, the Huntington Historical Society is proud to offer guided tours of this historic treasure.
Your visit begins with a short boat ride from Gold Star Battalion Beach into the picturesque Puppy Cove, passing by waterfront mansions and often accompanied by sightings of egrets, ospreys, and other visiting waterfowl. Once at the mill, your guide will explain its fascinating mechanics and share stories from the region’s social history. Each tour participant will also receive a comprehensive, illustrated booklet as a keepsake.
Please Note:
Access to the mill is by boat only; participants must be able to climb in and out of the boat and navigate steps.
The boat and mill are not handicapped accessible.
Tours last approximately 1½ hours.
Children 12 and older are welcome. This trip is not available to children under 12.
In case of inclement weather, tours may be rescheduled for the following day.
Private tours for groups of up to 15 can be arranged and follow the same route and accessibility conditions.
Participation requires the physical ability to climb steps and enter/exit the boat.
