Juneteenth Celebration – FREE

Celebrate Juneteenth, a day of freedom, resilience, and joy, with us at The Heckscher Museum of Art and in partnership with the Huntington African American Museum!

Join us in the galleries from 12 to 2 pm to chat with Just Powers: Long Island Biennial 2026 exhibiting artists Michael Krasowitz, Luanda Lozano, and Christine Tudor. Then head outside for a live performance by the Adlib Steel Pan Orchestra on the museum terrace from 4 to 5 pm. Stay after the performance for a reception on the terrace, where guests and musicians will gather over refreshments to celebrate community and enjoy the evening together.
Founded by Trinidadian musicians dedicated to preserving Caribbean culture, Adlib Steel Pan Orchestra brings the vibrant, genre-spanning sound of the steelpan, an instrument with its own story of cultural pride, to this meaningful occasion.
*In the event of inclement weather, the performance and reception will take place in the Museum.
Free. All are welcome!
For the performance, registration is recommended for seating accommodation.
