Dix Hills Animal Hospital Open House - A little girl who found her forever puppy to adopt.

What a fantastic day at the Dix Hills Animal Hospital Open House! Families, pet lovers, and plenty of furry friends came out to enjoy a celebration filled with fun, education, and community spirit.

Guests were greeted right in the parking lot of 1166 E. Jericho Turnpike, Huntington by the friendly staff and given a map to guide them through the hospital. Before even stepping inside, visitors could stop by Grooming by Jackie’s mobile grooming station for complimentary nail trims and ear cleanings. Nearby, Catalina’s Bake Shop offered a delicious spread of empanadas, cookies, brownies, cupcakes and even special treats for dogs. Two different dog trainers answered questions – Positive Pup Dog Training provides puppy and dog training services and socializing excursions and GR Pet Services, Family Dog Coach specializes in behavior training as a family unit in the home. April Alder from Bed, Bath and Biscuits (718) 344-6660 provides pet boarding and grooming in her home with free door to door pickup and delivery of your pet.

Inside, attendees followed the self-guided tour through the hospital’s different rooms, learning what each space is used for. Demonstrations using stuffed animals showed how pets are cared for during procedures, while representatives from pet insurance companies and pet food brands Hill’s and Royal Canin shared valuable information and plenty of tasty samples. By the end of the tour, guests walked away with a better understanding of the comprehensive care Dix Hills Animal Hospital provides.

The celebration continued out back, where local rescues including Ollie’s Angels Animal Rescue, Remember Me Rescue, and Tender Loving Cats were on hand with adoptable pets looking for their forever homes. Visitors also had the chance to enter raffle basket drawings, with proceeds supporting a Dix Hills Animal Hospital program that helps pets in need of medical care. Dogs made “Lick Paintings” – watch the Live video! – to display on the family refrigerator.

From start to finish, the event was a heartwarming mix of education, fun games, giveaways and community connection. Judging by the smiles – and all the tail wagging – it’s safe to say everyone is hoping this becomes an annual tradition!
