Pedestrian Seriously Injured in East Northport Crash

EAST NORTHPORT, NY – Issued June 13, 2026

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in East Northport last night.

Fausto Sorto was driving a 2014 Honda Accord eastbound on Town Line Road, when he pulled onto the shoulder in front of 341 Town Line Road, exited the vehicle, and walked around to the back of his vehicle. When he was in the driver’s side trunk area, he was struck by an eastbound 2019 Volkswagen Atlas, driven by Benjamin Gutleber, at 7:36 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026.

Sorto, 35, of Brentwood, was transported to South Shore University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Gutleber, 17, of Northport, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
