A Space with History, Rediscovered

When you walk through the courtyard to Mighty Fine, your mind may drift back, maybe decades, maybe just a few years, to the lively memories of nights spent at Garvin’s and later Finley’s. There’s a sense of history here that refuses to fade. In fact, it’s been rediscovered in the most unexpected place: the ladies’ room, where the original Gavin’s mural from 1986 was uncovered. Its presence sparked a complete rethink of the space’s design, with colors now chosen to complement this nostalgic centerpiece. A mural that has quite literally stood the test of time, it even captures a familiar sentiment when people back then were already talking about the high price of houses.

But the moment you step inside, those reflections give way to something more comforting: the unmistakable aroma of fresh-baked apple pie, instantly evoking memories of home.

A Welcoming Space Inside and Out

The front outdoor area welcomes guests – and their dogs with open arms. Whether you’re stopping in for coffee, tea, a glass of wine, or a signature cocktail, it’s a space designed to linger. Soon, a putting green will add even more charm to this already inviting setting.

Inside, your eyes are immediately drawn to a glass display featuring whole chickens glazed with a rich honey and balsamic finish, available with or without buttermilk biscuits. Nearby, the sweet case tempts with an irresistible lineup: a much-talked-about potato chip cookie, berry bread pudding, cocoa brownies, and a standout gluten-free, nut-free, vegan cookie bursting with blueberry, apple, ginger, and oat flavors.

The interior itself blends cozy and functional with plenty of seating, a fireplace, and even a phone booth-turned charging station for a modern twist on comfort.

A Menu Built Around Pie and More

Then there are the pies…the heart and soul of Mighty Fine. From classics to creative combinations, the selection is impressive, and the experience goes beyond simply choosing a slice. Here, you can design your own pie from scratch. Pick your fillings, your crust, your style and while you enjoy lunch, dinner, or a drink, your custom creation comes together, ready to take home.

Among the favorites sampled were the Apple Pie, Maple Bacon Walnut Pie, and the Razzleberry Double Crust Pie, each one as memorable as the next. The menu extends beyond desserts as well, offering everything from biscuit sandwiches like the BBEC, to egg wraps, quiches, pot pies, salads, and a highly recommended rib eye sandwich.

Step out back, and you’ll find a space designed for connection. Kids can safely run and play, while adults relax nearby. A movie screen sets the stage for weekend afternoon films, and the outdoor bar – opening after Mother’s Day – from Thursday through Sunday from noon to 9 PM adds a lively touch, often accompanied by live music. It’s also quickly becoming a go-to spot for private events, with bookings already filling up fast.

A Different Approach to Pie

At the center of it all is owner Daria Lamb, whose approach to pie is both thoughtful and refreshingly different.

“You can go into a bakery and say I want a lemon cake and chocolate icing, and get it made as a special order, but nobody does that with pie. Why not let people decide how they want their pie?”

“Every pie is a reflection of the person who makes it.”

“Some like heavier crust, a sturdy crust, or a lighter and flakey crust where you can taste the butter. Our pies have multiple textures and flavors in them, so you won’t get bored by the end of a slice of pie.”

A New Addition to Huntington

Open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, Mighty Fine is more than just a bakery, it’s an experience rooted in nostalgia, creativity, and community. With a welcoming staff and a concept that invites you to make it your own, it’s quickly becoming a standout addition to the Town of Huntington.

If you haven’t stopped in yet, consider this your sign. And if you need a reason, well, there’s always pie.

A Note from the Celiac with a Dairy Allergy:

Mighty Fine already has some great options for those with dietary restrictions, including a gluten-free, dairy-free oatmeal blueberry cookie, BareNaked Bakery gluten-free bread available for sandwiches upon request, and their DELICIOUS organic rotisserie chicken, which is also gluten and dairy free.

Owner Daria Lamb shared that they plan to expand their gluten-free offerings in the future.

While the team is very conscientious about accommodating allergens, the facility is not fully allergen-free and cross contamination is possible. I am ridiculously sensitive and did NOT have a reaction from the cookie or the chicken! – June Margolin
