GREENLAWN, NY – Issued May 26, 2026

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a bicyclist in Greenlawn today.

A 75-year-old bicyclist was struck at the intersection of Butterfield Drive and Pulaski Road, by a 2022 Subaru at approximately 1 p.m.

The bicyclist was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious but non-life threatening condition. His identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Subaru, Bryan Maldonado-Acosta, 22, of Huntington Station, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad, at 631-854-8252.
