Greek Fest St. Paraskevi - Back of the t-shirt the volunteers wore "It's All Greek To Me" with english to Greek translations.

The grounds of St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church came alive September 13–15, 2025 for the much-anticipated Greek Fest, a cherished community tradition that once again drew large crowds. Parking can be a challenge at this popular event, but the shuttle service made getting to and from the festival easy and convenient. Guests were welcomed at the entrance by a huge balloon figure welcoming us on the premises, and at the gate a suggested $5 donation to help cover the costs of hosting such a large-scale celebration.

Once inside, there was no shortage of things to explore. Vendors lined the pathways with everything from home lighting, jewelry, candles, and Greek décor to religious articles and even handcrafted furniture made by a talented 89-year-old local gentleman who builds pieces as a hobby. A flea market added to the fun, offering plenty of hidden treasures for bargain hunters. No Greek festival would be complete without sweet desserts, and this one certainly delivered. Booths overflowed with authentic Greek pastries and treats, including the beloved kourabiedes (butter cookies) a must-have to take home.

Families headed over to the Newton Shows Carnival, where children’s laughter filled the air. Rides, games, and carnival treats brought endless joy, especially the burlap sack slides that sent kids racing down with big smiles. The festival also featured a lively Beer & Wine Garden and a main stage with music and entertainment, highlighted by dance performances from the Greek school students throughout the weekend. Of course, one of the biggest draws was the Dinner Tent, where visitors indulged in traditional Greek favorites such as mousaka, pastitsio, spanakopita, tiropita, gyros, and fresh Greek salads. The aromas alone were enough to make your mouth water.

After three days of food, music, dancing, and fun, Greek Fest wrapped up on Sunday evening, leaving the community with full hearts—and stomachs—and already looking forward to next year’s celebration.
