Town of Huntington LGBTQ+ Task Force to Host Pride Flag Raising Ceremony at Heckscher Park
Huntington, NY — The Town of Huntington and the Town of Huntington LGBTQ+ Task Force, is proud to host a Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on the steps of the Heckscher Museum of Art in Heckscher Park. The community is invited to attend and show their support for equality, inclusion, and the celebration of LGBTQ+ pride.
This event honors the diverse voices and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirms the Town’s ongoing commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all residents.
The ceremony will include a performance of the national anthem by the immensely talented actress and vocalist Josie Sullivan of Huntington High School, showcasing the talent of our town’s youth and underscoring the shared values that unite the community.
Following the flag raising, all attendees are encouraged to visit the Heckscher Museum of Art for the debut of a special exhibition: All of Me with All of You: LGBTQ+ Art Out of the Collection This new exhibit highlights LGBTQ+ artists and themes drawn from the museum’s permanent collection, offering a compelling and reflective look at identity, love, and artistic expression over the course of history.
“This event is for all residents of the Huntington township to see that their local government is listening to and supporting the LGBTQ+ community,” said Phillip Griffin, Chair of the Town of Huntington LGBTQ+ Task Force. “We invite everyone to stand with us in pride and celebration of the diversity that makes Huntington the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
