PATCHOGUE, NY – Issued September 5, 2026
The Suffolk County Police Department, assisted by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police Department, arrested seven motorists during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Patchogue.
Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Highway Patrol Bureau SAFE-T Team conducted a joint sobriety checkpoint operation with Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs and New York State Police at Waverly Plaza from 11 p.m. last night September 4 until 2:30 a.m. this morning September 5. Volunteers and staff from MADD also assisted, giving educational information to motorists.
The checkpoint was part of a holiday weekend enforcement crackdown targeting alcohol and drug impaired driving. A total of 465 vehicles went through the checkpoint.
The following were charged with Driving While Intoxicated:
• Anthony R. Palumbo, 28, of Sayville
• Charles E. Lundstrom, 48, of Hauppauge
• Richard S. Kuplen III, 26, of Dix Hills
The following were charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs:
• Sharon Catera, 51, of Bohemia
• Robert E. Laudonio, 41, of Bohemia
The following were charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol and Drugs:
• Original God Allah Shaborn, 24, of Mastic
• Darrell Credle-Strasaun, 27, of Ronkonkoma
The above arrestees will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 5.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
