HUNTINGTON STATION, NY – When the doors opened, a line stretched outside as community members gathered to celebrate and support Zaro’s Cafe at a special luncheon event “Feast at Zaro’s” on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 12:00PM-2:00PM. Zaro’s is a beloved family-owned business that has been serving delicious Greek cuisine for more than 32 years – through two generations – at 135 West Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station, NY.
On July 17th, Zaro’s Cafe posted the following statement on their Instagram stories: “Due to the current economic environment Zaros has made the difficult decision to reduce our operating hours. To ensure we can maintain the quality and consistency of our food we will be open Tuesday-Saturday 4pm-9pm effective immediately. Gyros are now $10 every day we are open. We hope you continue to support us during this time.”
After learning that the business was struggling, Suffolk County Legislator Rebecca Sanin, true to her commitment to helping others, invited the community to come together during a “Feast at Zaro’s” event. The flyer read “Come together to help save Zaro’s Cafe” – purchase a meal, enjoy the warm atmosphere, and stand in solidarity with Zaro’s Cafe during this challenging time. “Every meal purchased is a show of support for a local business that has given so much to us all.”
Like many small businesses, Zaro’s has faced difficulties in today’s economy, yet their dedication to the community has never wavered. During the pandemic, while their doors were closed, the family used their dining room to make face shields for neighbors in need. Time and again, when food donations are requested for local events, owner Edmund Zarou is among the first to volunteer, providing trays of food to support others.
On Wednesday, August 20th – Edmund’s birthday – Dana Richter and Diane Schaber, Huntington Matters and Tom Schaber gathered with neighbors and Legislator Sanin to return that kindness, coming together to share a meal, enjoy each other’s company, and show their support for Zaro’s Cafe.
Zaro’s Cafe is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00PM to 9:00PM serving excellent homemade Greek and Italian food in a relaxed and uplifting dining room. They offer dine in or take-out specials and delivery through Door Dash, Grub Hub and Uber Eats. Their event catering is well known for its exceptional quality and affordability. By continuing to support this great restaurant, you are helping to keep this business open so they can continue to serve the Huntington community.
