HUNTINGTON STATION, NY – APRIL 7, 2026

Inspector Markus Rivera, Suffolk County Police Department 2nd Precinct, led the April 2026 community meeting, reviewing March crime statistics, arrests, violent incidents, enforcement activity, traffic safety concerns, scams, and community initiatives across the Town of Huntington.

The meeting included updates on a domestic-related homicide, multiple cleared violent incidents, anti-crime enforcement activity, vape compliance checks, traffic enforcement, overdoses, and quality-of-life concerns raised directly by residents during the Q&A portion.

As always, some of the most important and informative parts of the meeting came during the resident questions and answers section, where community concerns were discussed directly with police leadership. Crime Statistics

Police reported one murder in March, along with one robbery, five aggravated assaults, zero residential burglaries, three commercial burglaries, 94 larcenies, and one vehicle theft. Year-to-date, property crimes continue trending downward, while violent crimes have seen a slight increase, much of it tied to domestic-related incidents.

Arrests Breakdown

Police reported 21 felony arrests and 80 misdemeanor arrests in March, along with additional arrests tied to gang activity, drug enforcement, and DWI enforcement. Police emphasized that DWI enforcement remains a priority due to ongoing traffic safety concerns.

Incidents of Note Across the Precinct

Park Avenue, south of Broadway, Huntington Station – Assault / stabbing incident. Officers responded quickly, identified witnesses, conducted a show-up, and made an arrest following a coordinated investigation.

Karma Smoke Shop, Huntington Station – Robbery. Patrol officers established a perimeter immediately after the crime. K9 Officer Bolt located the suspect along with stolen property, leading to an arrest.

New York Avenue Pizza, Huntington Station – Commercial burglary involving three suspects, including two facilitating entry and one acting as a lookout. Police identified the suspects through video and made a quick arrest. The location was targeted twice in two days, with one of the incidents also resulting in an arrest.

1st Avenue, Huntington Station – Anti-crime officers made a drug arrest and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine during the investigation.

East Northport (domestic incident) – Police reported a homicide on March 29 determined to be domestic in nature. An 18-year-old allegedly murdered his grandmother’s 61-year-old fiancé. An arrest was made.

Massage / Spa Enforcement – Huntington Station and East Northport

Valley Sole Spa, Broadway, Greenlawn – 1 employee arrested – Unauthorized Practice of a Profession (E Felony) and Prostitution, 6 combined Fire Marshal and Code Enforcement violations issued, investigation ongoing.

Roslyn Spa, Jericho Turnpike, East Northport – 2 employees arrested – Unauthorized Practice of a Profession (E Felony) and Prostitution, 14 combined violations issued, follow-up investigation continuing.

VAPE Compliance Operation

A total of 47 shops were inspected during the month, with 4 found in violation.

Greenlawn Dairy Mart, 100 Broadway, Greenlawn – Unlawfully Dealing with a Child (2nd Degree).

Jericho Smoke Bazaar, Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station – Sold tobacco to a minor.

Huntington Mart, Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station – Sold tobacco to a minor and had flavored vape products seized.

Venom X, 217 Walt Whitman Road, Huntington Station – Sold tobacco to a minor and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon (4th Degree) after metal knuckles were discovered.

Traffic Enforcement – S.I.T.E. Team

The Suffolk Intensified Traffic Enforcement Team issued 166 summonses in March, including 141 moving violations and 25 non-moving violations. Targeted roadways included New York Avenue, Vanderbilt Parkway, Spring Road, Jericho Turnpike, Seaman Neck Road, Route 231, and Wolf Hill Road.

Police emphasized that aggressive driving, speeding, and DWI enforcement remain ongoing priorities, with traffic safety described as one of the precinct’s biggest challenges.

Fatal Accident – Huntington Station

New York Avenue, Huntington Station – Police reported one fatal accident on March 8 involving a pedestrian struck in a hit-and-run. An arrest was made following the investigation.

ShotSpotter Activations – Huntington Station

Police reported three ShotSpotter activations in Huntington Station during March, all of which resulted in negative findings.

Domestic Incidents and Overdoses

Police reported 182 domestic incidents, including 51 criminal cases and 17 arrests. Six overdoses were reported, including five non-fatal and one fatal.

Scam and Crime Prevention Reminders

Police warned residents about identity theft, fraud, and check washing schemes impacting the region. Residents were advised to avoid mailing checks when possible, use secure payment methods, and report suspicious activity immediately. Officials emphasized that scammers often create urgency and pressure victims into acting quickly, encouraging residents to slow down, verify information, and consult others before responding. Residents are encouraged to review the meeting slides for additional scam prevention guidelines.

Become an Auxiliary Police Officer

The Suffolk County Police Department is actively seeking volunteers to join the Auxiliary Police program. Auxiliary officers support the department with community patrols, event assistance, and public safety presence, serving as an important bridge between the police and the community. Volunteers donate their time to help keep neighborhoods safe and assist with a wide range of community-focused initiatives. Residents interested in serving are encouraged to explore the program and speak with officers for more information.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY – February 3, 2026

Inspector Markus Rivera, Suffolk County Police Department 2nd Precinct, led the February 2026 community meeting at South Huntington Public Library in Huntington Station.

Police reviewed January crime statistics, arrests, violent incidents across the precinct, business enforcement, a fatal crash, ShotSpotter activations, scam prevention reminders, and upcoming community events.

Crime Statistics

Police reported 0 murders in January. The precinct recorded 3 robberies, 8 aggravated assaults, 2 residential burglaries, 2 commercial burglaries, 86 larcenies, and 6 vehicle thefts.

Year-to-date, robbery increased from 1 to 3, assault increased from 7 to 8, commercial burglary increased from 1 to 2, while larceny dropped from 99 to 86 and vehicle theft dropped from 8 to 6. Residential burglary remained even at 2.

Arrests Breakdown

Police reported 139 total arrests in January, including 14 felony arrests, 84 misdemeanor arrests, 3 assault arrests, 5 gang member arrests, 32 drug-related arrests, and 1 DWI arrest.

Incidents of Note Across the Precinct

• Brothers Deli, 243 Broadway, Greenlawn – Assault 2nd Degree arrest. Police said a victim was stabbed in the neck with a kitchen knife taken from the counter, causing a non-life-threatening injury. ARREST MADE.
• El Cuscatleco, 137 Broadway, Huntington Station – Assault 2nd Degree. Police said the victim was attacked after exiting the bathroom area, struck in the head and face with an unknown object, and suffered a fractured nose and lacerations. The victim was transported to Huntington Hospital.
• 167 E. Shore Road, Huntington Bay – Robbery 1st / Assault arrest. Police said the victim was followed and rear-ended, escalating into an assault. The suspects allegedly stole the victim’s vehicle before being detained nearby.
• 170 Eatons Neck Road, Eatons Neck – Burglary 2nd Degree. Police said the homeowner returned to find a broken window, rear doors open, and the home ransacked. A monitor was reported stolen, with additional items later recovered nearby.

Massage / Spa Enforcement – Huntington Station and Greenlawn

Hermosa Foot Spa, 740 E. Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station: 2 employees arrested – Unauthorized Practice of a Profession (E Felony), 8 combined violations issued.

Business at 608 E. Jericho Turnpike, Huntington Station: 2 employees arrested – Unauthorized Practice of a Profession (E Felony) and Prostitution (B Misdemeanor), 5 combined violations issued.

State Liquor Authority (SLA) and Business Enforcement

Three Stars Bar, 118 West Hills Road, Huntington Station: Owner arrested – Criminal Possession of a Weapon (4th Degree) after police located a billy club inside the establishment, 5 combined fire and building violations issued, 3 SLA violations issued.

McKeown’s Pub, 1 Clinton Avenue, Huntington: 2 bartenders arrested – Unlawfully Dealing with a Child (1st Degree) after underage agents were served alcohol, 4 combined fire/building violations issued, 5 ABC Law violations issued.

Instant Replay Sports Bar, 282 E. Jericho Turnpike, South Huntington: Manager cited for 2 SLA violations, Fire Marshal issued 2 additional violations, follow-up investigation continuing.

Traffic Enforcement – S.I.T.E. Team

SCPD Highway Bureau Suffolk Intensified Traffic Enforcement Team conducted additional enforcement in the 2nd Precinct during January.

A total of 116 summonses were issued, including 98 moving violations and 18 non-moving violations.

Targeted roadways included Seaman Neck Road, Jericho Turnpike, Spring Road, Vanderbilt Parkway, Bagatelle Road, and New York Avenue / Route 110.

Fatal Accident – East Northport

Larkfield Road, East Northport – Police reported 1 fatal accident in January. An 81-year-old pedestrian was struck by a northbound vehicle while crossing the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

ShotSpotter Activations – Huntington Station

Police reported 7 ShotSpotter activations in Huntington Station during January, all of which resulted in negative findings after canvass. In some cases, fireworks were reported or suspected.

Scam and Crime Prevention Reminders

Police highlighted ongoing scam activity impacting residents.

Residents were advised:

• Never share personal or financial information from an unexpected call, text, or email
• Verify suspicious calls by contacting a trusted number directly
• Do not click unknown links or call unfamiliar numbers
• Scammers often create urgency – slow down and verify before acting
• Never send money or make payments based on unsolicited requests

Common scams reported include individuals posing as law enforcement requesting bail money and callers claiming to be from a bank fraud department instructing victims to move money.
