A Guide to Giving and Receiving Support in Our Community This Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving approaches, our community’s true spirit shines — one of generosity, connection, and shared gratitude. This season offers so many ways to take part: you can donate food to local drives, volunteer at collection events, join friends and family for a community dinner, or even lace up your sneakers for a Turkey Trot that supports local charities. No matter how you give or receive, every act of kindness helps fill tables — and hearts — across our town.

Thanksgiving is about more than one meal; it’s about neighbors helping neighbors and ensuring that everyone has a place to belong. Whether you’re contributing a few cans of food, signing up to receive a meal, or running to raise funds for others, your participation turns gratitude into action. Inspired by the Town of Huntington Highway Superintendent Andre Sorrentino’s annual turkey giveaway, this initiative focuses on collecting the “fixins” — the essential sides and pantry staples — to help provide complete holiday meals for over 1,000 families.
