September 8, 2025: LIVE Last Alarm Ceremony for Mason Kraese, Firefighter video.
On Monday, September 8, 2025 at 10:00AM, Mason’s fellow Huntington Manor Fire Department firefighters, family and friends gathered outside the Huntington Manor Fire Department at 1650 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, NY for his Last Alarm Ceremony.
A “Last Alarm” ceremony is a solemn firefighter tradition honoring a departed colleague, marking the end of their service. This ceremony serves as a formal farewell, recognizing the firefighter’s sacrifice and dedication to the community.
Mason Kraese’s casket was placed in the bed of the vintage Huntington Manor Fire Department fire truck. The truck and fire department building were draped in black and purple bunting, and the digital sign on the fire department lawn displayed messages honoring Mason’s service. An enormous American Flag was draped between the raised ladders of 2 fire trucks parked on East 12th Street along with several fire department vehicles with lettering dedicating them to Mason’s memory. Led by a Suffolk County Police Department ceremonial motorcycle escort, the vintage fire truck procession, with Pall Bearers walking alongside, travelled slowly down East 12th Street, onto New York Avenue and turned left onto East 13th Street. Immediate family and friends followed the vintage truck to Melville Rural Cemetery for Mason’s Funeral Service.
Please keep the Kraese and Steenson families in your thoughts and prayers during this impossibly difficult time. Rest in Peace, Mason.
September 7, 2025: LIVE Firematic Service in Honor of Mason Kraese video.
The Kraese family requested that Huntington Matters live stream their son Mason’s services at Huntington Manor Fire Department, 1650 New York Avenue, Huntington Station, NY.
The Firematic Service is a highly ceremonial and traditional event that symbolize a firefighter’s devotion to duty, brotherhood, and the communities they serve. Firefighters, police officers, ambulance corps volunteers and other first responders from across Long Island came in full dress uniform to pay their respects. They lined the very large room to capacity, continuing down the hall, stairs and into the garage below. In small groups by department, every responder marched to Mason Kraese’s casket, turned as a group toward him, gave a final salute to Mason, then departed with military precision.
The Huntington Manor Fire Department Chaplain shared about Mason and led attendees in a prayer. Mason’s mother, Mary Beth Kraese, brothers Colton and Gunnar Kraese, Grandfather, family members, fellow firefighters and friends shared stories highlighting the funny, passionate, caring, unique and adventurous person that Mason was.
We estimate approximately 1,000 people marched and attended Mason’s incredibly moving Firematic Service. Mason Kraese was a 3rd generation Huntington Manor Fire Department firefighter.
