Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for shooting a woman on Leigh Street in Greenlawn this morning.
Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives with the assistance of New York State Police Troop T, and the New Rochelle Police Department arrested Eric Giovanni Whilby, on Pelham Road, New Rochelle at approximately 8:40 a.m.
Whilby, 37, of Greenlawn, was charged with Assault 1st Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 5.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. Below is the original release.

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a woman this morning in Greenlawn.
During a domestic related incident, a 40-year-old woman was shot by a man on Leigh Street, at 12:52 a.m. The shooter then fled the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
