WHAT IS A PRIMARY & WHY SHOULD I CARE? A Primary Election happens when a political party has additional people other than those chosen by the party’s committee who would like to be THE party candidate on the November ballot. Voters elect their favorites among ALL of the candidates. The winners of the Primary are the Party’s OFFICIAL CANDIDATES in the November General Election.
TOWN CANDIDATES INFLUENCE YOUR EVERY DAY LIFE. WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY? Development, Taxes, Environment, Affordable or Workforce Housing, Parking, Open Space, Parks & Recreation, Zone Changes, Revitalization, Beach Water, Quality of Life issues, Seniors, Safety, Policing, Legislation, Traffic, Tax Collecting, etc. etc. etc. COMMENT WITH QUESTIONS THAT YOU WANT US TO ASK FOR YOU.
WHY IS THIS PRIMARY ONLY FOR REPUBLICANS, CONSERVATIVES and WORKING FAMILIES PARTY VOTERS? The other parties don’t have any “extra” people seeking to get on the ballot in November. (Note: The Working Family Primary is not part of Huntington Matters interviews as it is not a very contentious race.)
