FREE Our Farm Legacy: The History of Agriculture and Farming in East Northport and Northport
The roots of agriculture in our area go back to the indigenous native American Matinecock Indians that had lived here for thousands of years.
Colonial era agriculture emerged in the 1600s, and farming was a significant and identifiable part of the Northport and East Northport community and economy until the 1960’s.
At this talk, farmer and food scientist Anton Angelich delves into our community’s rich agricultural past, from apples to cranberries, potatoes, poultry and much more.
We will also present Richters Orchard with the Century Award, honoring their 125 year history in Northport. Stick around after the talk for the opening reception for the Our Farm Legacy exhibit.
