250th Anniversary Reenactment – Huntington Declaration of Rights
THE 250th Anniversary of the Town of Huntington
”Declaration of Rights”
This is the first event on Long Island of the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolutionary War!
In June 21, 1774 the Huntington Town Council met and enacted The Huntington Declaration of Rights. This document listed 7 specific rights that would be echoed in other towns through the colonies into the next year and to the Declaration of Independence!
The Order of the Ancient and Honorable Huntington Militia will encamp on Huntington Green across from The Arsenal and the this important document will be read to all present!
The Militia will then drill, fire their muskets in salute, and fire their cannon.
Citizens of Huntington in the year 1774 will be there to hear what their town has declared. Join them on the Town Green to hear this important document!
Tradesmen and Tradeswomen will gather with their wares.
