Girls flag football took the field at Breezy Park Saturday afternoon as Huntington High School faced Sachem East in a special matchup held as part of the Huntington Human Services Institute’s 2026 Summer Carnival.
Sachem East came away with a 21-6 victory over the Blue Devils, but the afternoon offered something beyond the final score: an opportunity to showcase girls flag football in front of the Huntington community.
Huntington, led by Coach Malcolm Eugene, and Sachem East both compete in Section XI’s top girls flag football classification. Sachem East arrived at Breezy Park following a spring season that took the team to the Section XI Class A championship game.
The flag football game was one of several athletic events held during the Summer Carnival weekend, which also included Friday’s Huntington Carnival Showdown between Huntington and Walt Whitman boys soccer and Saturday’s youth 3-on-3 basketball tournament and 3-point shooting contest.
The 2026 Summer Carnival was presented by the Huntington Human Services Institute, Inc., the charitable arm of the Town of Huntington Department of Human Services.
