HUNTINGTON, NY – May 24, 2026

The Town of Huntington held its annual Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony on Sunday, May 24, 2026, in the town board room inside Huntington Town Hall, where the community gathered to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to the nation. The laying of commemorative wreaths recognized veterans from multiple generations of service.

Wreaths were presented for World War I by Richard Serynek of the Disabled American Veterans; World War II by Robert Gold of the Jewish War Veterans; the Korean War by Hon. W. Gerard Asher of Nathan Hale VFW #1469; the Vietnam War by Walter Scally of Huntington American Legion #360; Women Veterans by Donna Lynn Healy of Northport American Legion #694; and Fallen Heroes by Constance Mangano, Gold Star Mother of New York Army National Guard Specialist Anthony L. Mangano who was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan in 2008.

The ceremony also featured performances by the Huntington Men’s Chorus, a rendition of “Taps” by Thomas Butterfield, and “Amazing Grace” performed by the John Martin, IBEW Local 25 Pipes and Drum Band.

Cub Scout Troop 406, handed out programs for the ceremony to the attendees and refreshments were donated by Dunkin’ Donuts on New York Avenue in Huntington and House of Bagels in Dix Hills. Fusco, Brandenstein & Rada, P.C. Attorneys at law was also a sponsor of the program.
