Suffolk County Police Department issued the following new statement:
”Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that killed a man in Huntington Station tonight.
A 911 caller reported that a man was shot behind the One Stop Deli, located at 150 West Pulaski Road, at approximately 4:15 p.m.
When police arrived, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound and transported him to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact Homicide Squad detectives

“Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a targeted shooting that killed one person on Pulaski Street in Huntington Station at approximately 4:15 p.m. on April 20.
The investigation is ongoing.
It will be a while before we have any additional information.”
Suffolk County Legislator Rebecca Sanin has released the following statement: “I am very saddened to learn about the loss of life and violence in our community today. I am praying for the victim, their loved ones, and for strength and unity in our community during this difficult time. As our law enforcement partners continue their investigation, I urge our community to come together – share any information with law endorsements, support one another, and stand united in our commitment to safety and peace in Huntington Station.”
Huntington Matters Community Forum (HMCF) began receiving posts around 4:30PM from members asking about the large police and ambulance response at One Stop Deli and Gyros, 150 West Pulaski Road, Huntington Station. Minutes later, member profile David Albert posted videos of a Suffolk County Police Department helicopter circling low over North Street, Colombia Street and McKay Road by Huntington High School to Oakwood Road.
News12 reported K9 Officers were sweeping the area earlier.
Multiple residents expressed frustration in comments and submitted posts to HMCF at the Suffolk County Police Department’s lack of information shared with the immediate neighbors during an active search for the assailant(s).
At 9:14pm the area in front of One Stop Deli was still closed with Police tape across Pulaski Road at McKay Road and at McKay and Railroad Street with the Suffolk County Police Department Mobile Command Post truck parked outside the Deli.
The Town of Huntington issued a statement at 10:00pm: “The Town is aware of the fatal shooting in Huntington Station today. Suffolk County Police Department is investigating. There is no credible threat to the public at-large. All resident or media inquiries should be directed to Suffolk County Police Department.”
