DESCRIPTION:The Spirit of Huntington Art Center announces a public showing of the documentary film “Autism Paints – The Spirit of an Artist,” telling the story of the charity organization that grew from one artist’s dream of opening an art school for students with special needs. \nFilmed on Long Island and completed in 2017, the documentary introduces Erich Preis, an artist diagnosed with ASD who restored a vacant space with the goal of providing public art created by young community members facing the challenges of autism and pursuing creative expression. “Autism Paints” highlights the importance of inclusion and diversity in the arts and the restorative power of self-expression through art.\nA special panel discussion will feature founder and artist Erich Preis, Producer/Director David Stagnari, Board Member and Real Estate Developer Dominic Mavellia, and Paul Pokalsky, Executive Director of Anibic, moderated by Michael Kitakis, Executive Director of the Spirit of Huntington Art Center.
